It seems that runDisney has started revealing their medals earlier than usual, which is great news for us. When Medal Watch first started we’d be sharing Disney medals for races for races that sold out months before but the advance previews of the bling you can earn yourself means that you still have time to enter some of the races.
Entries are still available for the 5k, half marathon and Dark Side Challenge between the 20th and 23rd April (The 10k and kids races are sold out). From a girl’s perspective, the medals are purhaps not quite as nice as the Light Side medals (I seriously love BB8 and any type of Droid medal) but I like that they are dark and sinister and I think they work really well together are a collection. I really like the Dark Side Challenge medal (for completing the 10k and half marathon) and of course love the Millennium Falcon medal for completeing the Kessel Run Challenge ( you need to complete the Star Wars Half Marathon/Rebel Challenge at the Disneyland Resort and the Star Wars Half Marathon/Dark Side Challenge at the Walt Disney World Resort to get it).
Unfortunately Princess weekend is sold out now on the runDisney (it probably wasn’t when the medals where revealed, my fault sorry) but you still might be able to get a place through a travel provider or charity. The theme for this year’s weekend is Beauty and the Beast (the new film is released in March) and the medals are soooooooooooooo pretty. I love Mrs Potts and Chip on the 5k medal, I think that’s my favourite. I also love the the rose design on the half and 10k medals and that the half medal looks both like the glass rose case and a bell for the half. It’s a shame I’ll not see the half marathon medal in person because I have a suspicion that photos don’t really do it justice.
It’s probably a good thing I won’t get to be there though as I’d have to borrow a child to run with and then steal their medal, seriously how good is the Cogsworth medal. The Glass Slipper Challenge (for running both the 10k and half marathon) medal has had a bit of a revamp too, not only does it have the red gem to represent Belle but it also appears to spin.
