MadMad Dog 10First, well done to everyone who earned on of these last week.
Did you earn a medal that you don’t see here? We’d love to add a photo of it to our collection and there are many ways to share it. Please see the end of the post for details.
Medals (and races) coming up soon
Hunter’s 10k (formerly the Welcome Tavern 10k) is less than a week away on 29th January. The race takes place at Lockstock Hall, Preston, and can be entered through BookitZone.
Who didn’t want to be a part of the breakfast club and now you can, kinda, by joining in the Breakfast Race from Phoenix Running on February 15th. This race organiser isn’t known for small medals and this is one of our favourites in a different colour from last year. Would rather have this medal than a Valentine any day.
Warrington is getting it’s first marathon next month. Actually it’s getting two. A double track marathon on a running track on the 25th and 26th February. I’ll be there both days and will get two of these pretty amazing medals, the runners actually move across the track. If you like on too then just click on this link. Also by Contest Running Co is the #Love2Run 5k. A valentine’s themed medal social run on the 19th February at Sefton Park in Liverpool with a virtual option between the 14th and 19th February.
It’s your last chance to enter the Aloha Friday 5k by Virtual Pace Series. It comes with a very little pretty charm but the virtual 5k needs to be completed on a Friday in January so this is the last week to enter. Virtual Pace Series also have a a Valentine’s themed challenge called Heart & Soul where you complete 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k and 5k on five consecutive days between the 10th and 14th February. There is also a Valentine’s option without the challenge if you complete the virtual Cupid’s Arrow 5k, 10k or half marathon.
A virtual race, with some serious glitter, the Ice Breaker 10k can be ran virtually any time between January and June. Visit the website of Virtually Geared for more details.
If you want a theme park inspired medal then Thorpe Park half marathon is on the 26th February (sadly the park will be closed). The race is by Runthrough Events.
The medal for Mad Dog 10k on the 5th February has also just been revealed. Unfortunately for anyone one hasn’t already got a place this race is sold out and the transfer deadline has passed. This will be my fourth Mad Dog and I think the medals just keep getting better and better. It’s the one race I think we all enter for the t-shirt but the medals are always ace too.
Latest medal reveals
Marathon season is getting closer. This is the medal you’ll be getting in Rome on the 2nd April if you complete the 26.2 miles. This looks like an amazing race and is certainly on my list. For more information about the race click here.
Milton Keynes Marathon released their medals for the marathon, half marathon and relay races a while ago but we forgot to share them in last weeks post (sorry). The cow is back and you can get one for yourself on the 1st May. There is also a children’s race and the Rocket 5k the day before. The Challenge medal for completing the 5k and half/full is the same as last year. More details can be found here.
Over the other side of the pond, these medals for Run the Bluegrass in Lexington, Kentucky, are seriously pretty. There’s a whole family of medals for the 1st April with a half marathon, 7 miler and two children’s races. Very jealous of anyone who will be getting one of those and you can find out how to get one here.
Women’s running has added a family mile race to the lineup at 12 different locations in 2017 and it’s the first medal to be revealed. We’ve had a sneak peak of the 5k and 10k medals (designed by our favourite people who do English Half Marathon) and we love them.
Virtual Runner UK are back with another amazing medal for the Give The Girl The Right Shoes Challenge. Quite a long name but such an inspiring thought with a pretty blingtastic medal to go with it. You just need to complete the marathon distance in the month of April. Have a feeling this will sell out pretty quickly.
The Heaton Park 5k and 10k by RunThrough Events (The guys who do Cheshire 10k) will take place near Manchester on the 12th March. Looks like it could be a very pretty location.
Virtual Pace Series have a number of different virtual race options with some pretty cool bling. Who doesn’t like a bit of Pi, Leprechauns or tuff looking bunnies and chicks. I also love the medal for International Women’s Day and the Mardi Gras themed medal is very pretty. To find out about these virtual races just click here.
My Race have a new virtual race medal that pays tribute to the Battle of Britain. The medal shows a Spitfire fighter plane, the White Cliffs of Dover and key elements of Winston Churchill’s famous speech “Never in the field of conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”
Medal Watch has an archive gallery of over 1000 medals of past, present and future. We pretty much love medals and don’t mind going on and on about it. If you would like us to brag about your medal, or if you’ve earned bling that just needs to be shared, there are a number of ways to show it off. Medal Watch is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Use the hashtag #medalwatch. You can also email me at [email protected].
Thanks for reading and we hope to get more medal news to you soon. Have fun racing.
Love
Sarah
