Medal Watch is having it’s own virtual race. Well, technically, Sarah is hosting the race but since she pretty much is Medal Watch, Medal Watch is having a virtual race. We’re still working out costings and we’re in touch with a medal designer so the specifics will be revealed soon. What we can tell you is that 100% of race profits will be going to MS.
Hopefully none of the people reading this will ever have first hand experience of what it is like to be invisibly disabled. Having to rely on others, losing your independence and having to put your trust in others is a challenge faced by many, including the owner of this website. To give you an idea of what it’s like we’re giving you a virtual race with a difference, you need to rely on someone else to cross your finish line. You can do a three legged race, cover your eyes or tie up your hands and have someone guide you or whatever bright idea that you can come up with. You can run a mile, a 5k, whatever distance you like but you must set yourselves a finish goal and you have to put your trust in someone else completely to achieve it. We’re working on getting a medal that splits in two so that both of you get the well deserved bling. Entries will be for two people and you can complete it any time in January or February so you even have time to kick of 2016 with a couch to 5k programme before the race, perfect for if you’re tying to get someone to start running.
We also don’t quite have a name yet (Lean 5k, Lean on me 5k, Trust 5k, My Support 5k have all been floating round). If you have any suggestions please let us know.
More details will be coming as soon as possible.
